Title: YALA YANA II

Chronologically, this work is part of the period "urban Dakar".

At this time, still very influenced by the Nationnal Art School, Fode recounts the feeling of life in a big city.

Also dating from this period are a series of canvas paintings depicting rusted and broken traffic signs. He dreams of travelling. Several of these paintings include the tri color borders one finds on international envelopes.

Behind the windows of these "car rapides", one can imagine the travellers bound for an unknown destination.

This type of work, reflecting on windows, will lead Fode to use the technique of glass painting. This popular type of art practised by self-taught painters, will attract a lot of Senegalese artists. A type of obligatory rite of passage, many of the country's great names in painting have practised this art at some stage or another of their career.
