Traditionally the basikasingo live in mixed communities with other populations like the Bembe or the Lega. They share with these other groups a pronounced taste for hunting, which is their principal activity. They also have in common a liturgy based largely on the cult of the spirits of nature and ancestors. Before leaving for the hunt, the men offer gifts to the ancestors, represented by small wooden statues. These statues, once satisfied, will favour the success of the hunt.
