In west Cameroun, this type of beaded throne is not an ordinary object, but a symbol of power and prestige. It is made with precise indications from the owner in order to clearly show his importance and level in society. The shape of the seat is roughly carved by the sculptor from a single piece of wood. It is then covered with fabric, on which are sewn thin lines of beads which cover the seat entirely. The base of this throne represents three leopards, a powerful symbol for some secret societies in west Cameroun.
